Society is full of opportunities, but not all of them are ones you really want to take. This Guidance Note is a summary of the key things you should be thinking about when purchasing a business.
2. Building Agreements - Contracting for the build of your first home or your Grand Design.
You have bought your section, or have it under contract. Now it's time to sign a Building Agreement. These often seem like long, unfamiliar, complex documents. However, which ever builder you are planning to work with, the way they work is generally going to be more or less the same. It's therefore usually pretty easy for us to be able to give advice on your proposed Building Agreement. But in the mean time, this Guidance Note will highlight the key things for you to be aware of as you start what should be an exciting, and likely challenging, process.
3. Risk Management - Tools available to make sure important things get done even if you are incapacitated or stuck overseas.
Most people are aware of Enduring Powers of Attorney. However, these are just one of the tools available to make sure that things keep moving even when you are unable to attend to business (personal or company). EPOA's also have no application in relation to trust assets and trusteeships, and are not directly effective at dealing with cash in bank accounts, or your duties as a company director. This Note outlines the broader range of simple-to-implement risk management tools which are available to make sure things keep working smoothly even though your flight may have been delayed, or you are enjoy the hospitality of St George's Hospital in Chch for a while.
